Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero was an American singer and model from the United States. She is also co-starring in Prince's 1984 movie Purple Rain. Her name was associated with her as the co-star in Prince's 1984 film Purple Rain, and the singer for the girl band Apollonia 6 In the 80s, the singer-actress Prince named Apollonia became just one of many female musicians to gain from their association with him. Born Patricia Kotero in Santa Monica California in 1959, her work started as a model and actress in the late '70s and included an appearance on the television show CHiPS. In 1984, she was cast as the female lead for Prince's Purple Rain (during which time she switched her names) and replaced Vanity as a member of the female group Vanity 6 performing with them in the film with the title Apollonia 6. Sex Shooter, the group's minor-hit song from the soundtrack was her biggest chart success. Kotero as well as Prince had a fallout over her future career. Apollonia6 split, Kotero did not remain in her relationship with Prince. She was later seen in a few minor roles during this time (reportedly refusing to take part in The Purple Rain follow-up Under the Cherry Moon) and then landed a role on the night-time show Falcon Crest during 1985-1986. Apollonia made her debut album in 1988. However, the fairly pedestrian set of dance and R&B songs did not make much impression on the music-buying public and the album soon vanished from sight. The singer was still active, though not under the spotlight, as an actor during the decade, albeit with minor film and television roles. Even an exercise DVD was made available. Apollonia made a bilingual CD named Stay With Me in 1997. Later, she returned to the school and to study filmmaking which led to her forming a production company, often working on television for children. Apollonia holds a number of jobs. She was an actor, singer and model. She is most famous as an actress for her part in the film Purple Rain from 1984. Her other films and television shows comprise Black Magic Woman, The Divorce Ceremony and many others. Kotero debuted her career as a model. She has participated in various events and pageants.
